Bukit
Bintang is the real city center.
|
|
|
|
|
|
The town administration would like to tell that KLCC
around the Petronas Towers is the center but
according to the amount of people,
action, facilities, shopping, food
etc. it's here. This is
the same during the day and
especially during the night. This
part of KL is on the hill behind the
old center of which was
Chinatown, Bukit means hill and Bintang means star, all together
Star Hill, sounds like Hollywood? |
|
|
|
Actually it’s more going on at this
part of Kuala Lumpur than in whole
LA where Hollywood is, no yoke.
Compared to places like KL, Bangkok,
Phuket etc. the whole US is a desert
in the night except maybe Las Vegas
and Miami.
Around
are also dozens of hotels in every
price range and some walking streets
at areas such as BB Park, which is
a good place in the evening with an
excellent mixture of bars, disco and
restaurants,
is the
more lively part with dozens of
restaurants, live music, bars,
disco, nightclubs and shopping,
hotels, restaurants and everything
related during day and
night. In recent years it also
become the center of gravity of
casual Arab investment in Malaysia.
There is probably no other
place in the country where so many (BMO) black moving objects are visible
( this is a Lebanese
|
|
expression), I wonder what they are
hiding from? Malaysians are nice
people respecting others, they won’t
never harass any tourists, no need
to hide. Without
any doubt, Changkat Bukit Bintang this is the
real heart of the city and this “Golden
Triangle” is dedicated to shopping, in malls such as Sungai
Wang (probably the best shopping
center in Kuala Lumpur) and Lot 10
on the opposite side of the road. If
one don't want to run around to much
and have the Monorail which somehow
connects to everywhere that's the
place.
The
area is behind and around the Monorail
station, there are no discos and girls bars
but plenty of excellent restaurants, hotels,
Kuala Lumpur massage shops and more. It
needs to have a walk around since the
quarter is spread over a couple of roads and
intersections. There are Chinese
restaurants, Malaysian restaurants, Thai
seafood, Arab food, Indian food all kind of
European food, fast food and so on. Spending
an evening there could be a international
culinary tour, there is also a hotel every
20 meter at most streets, actually this area
has the highest density of hotels in the
city. |
Here the night is an active one and
dominated by food, restaurants, bars and KL
clubs. Here is bars and
restaurants nightlife only, no girls around who
tell you “hello darling”, but that’s no
problem, there is life music, there is DJ
music and myriads of restaurants making a
decision difficult what food to take today.
A good
decision is always Chinese food, Malaysian
and Thai food. Chinese restaurants at
Changkat Bintang are very diverse and a
little searching around will find exotic
foodstuff only available where Chinese
people are. A culinary tour in the evening
around and maybe the next day
at KL Chinatown is unforgettable food
adventure. It’s difficult to visualize this,
it cant be done by words, it’s either by
walk
and try and have a look at the Kuala Lumpur
pictures, more. |

Changkat Bukit Bintang
Restaurant

Chinese Restaurant with dim
sum and more |
The area is very alive at night,
with music and
pieces of different languages rushing
through the air, it’s very often Arab
talking and Hindi, beside of English,
Malaysian and Chinese. There is live music
and plenty of exotic stuff to see. This is
an incredible nightlife experience because
it is really different, you will find this
atmosphere only here and another very
important reason to come here is, all is
very affordable, no
need to loot your account, but if
you need some Ringits, that's the local
currency, plenty of ATM machines are around
connected throughout the world.
There
is also fast food available
at Changkat Bukit Bintang and an excellent
option is Arab food, there are several
Arab restaurants at the main street and
behind, check it out, its worth it, always
keep in mind...Malaysia..truly Asia.
Most food
is Chinese food of various styles, it real
exotic, tasty and unusual stuff, they don't
have
snake restaurants
but other exotic dishes. Or take some
Thai style seafood at this Thai restaurant,
that's not the only one, it tastes good,
with a little chili ad on, what else the
stomach needs? A interesting Malaysian food
is Laksa which comes in many variants and
different names such as Penang Laksa, KL
Laksa and more.
|
|
Chinese restaurants in KL
are
infinite food
comes in all varieties, its almost
like Hong Kong or Singapore, no
wonder because more than 40% of the
population in Malaysia is Chinese.
This center of the city is easily
accessible by bus, taxi and
the elevated monorail. The only
problem is the monorail units are to
small and the time gap in between
the train comes is far to long,
looks like bad management. They also forgot to install a
ticked machine at the monorail
station, the result is long lines of
people who need
to buy a ticket manually because there are
only one or two ticket counters
with people open.
This is 19 Century with a view
to the 21. Century Petronas towers who tell
everyone how “advanced” the country
is, this ticketing is not advanced, this is a
mess. |

Kuala Lumpur Massage, along
the road of Changkat Bukit
Bintang are plenty of
massage shops, there are
foot massage and naughty
Kuala Lumpur girls massage. |
This is the KL “golden
triangle”.
Starting from Jalan Pudu
(where one of the worst prisons in
Asia was since British colonial
times, its closed now but by using
the monorail all buildings are still
seen from an elevated viewpoint and
that looks real
grim). The road intersects with
Jalan Sultan Ismail
and forms somehow a triangle.
Around
are plenty of hotels and restaurants
plus cheap hawker stalls and
Kuala Lumpur massage shops. Some of
the main shopping malls are located
here

Kuala Lumpur#s top shopping and soft
nightlife quarter located with most up

places when walking down to Changkat Bukit

Gallery, Pavilion KL,, Sungei Wang Plaza, and Lot 10 there are
several more great malls around.

Street Music a bit further
down |
This is the heart of KL's Golden
Triangle,
a
district of shopping, nightlife,
restaurants and international level
hotels. Around the Monorail station, are several large
shopping centers such as Sungei
Wang, Bukit Bintang Plaza and Imbi
Plaza.
Further down the road along Jalan
Raja Chulan, is the handicraft
village of Karyaneka. The country's
13 states are represented by 13
identical kampong which each state's

Bukit
Bintang Lot 10 Mall

Kuala Lumpur Central Market |
Sungei Wang Plaza
This
very popular shopping mall has
around 500 retail outlets plus
another 100 or so movable stalls at
the open space around the center and
elsewhere.
There is a large
selection of goods, actually if you
can imagine it you will find it and
its for all budgets, one of the best
is the Teppanyaki restaurant at
third floor, excellent food for mini prices.
When comparing to
Japanese food prices elsewhere such
as Singapore, Hong Kong etc. its a
real bargain, there is also
interesting KL Nightlife around.
There
are photo shops and other with the
newest gadgets, electronic fashion
wear and accessories, bags and
luggage, shoes, mobiles and
boutiques.
Imbi Plaza just across a side road
computer hard and software is available.
Bukit Bintang
Plaza
Built already
long time ago the plaza still attracts the
crowd with a good mix of local and
international goods over a wide spectrum
which spans from clothing to sport goods,
pharmaceutical products, computers and more.
Berjaya Times
Square
which is
Malaysia's largest shopping mall with over
one million sqm. The usable space is housing
more than 1,000 retail stores plus
restaurants and entertainment. There is
everything on sale a modern consumer could
think about
Lot 10
Mall
is on
designer goods and similar up
markets goods this places are to be
found anywhere in big cities around
the world even the goods are the
same, imported high price so called
designer items,the Japanese Isetan
is also there.
All this
malls selling more or less the same
goods sometimes a bit cheaper some
times a bit more expensive. the real
interesting mall is Central Market.
There are no malls at Changkat Bukit
Bintang. |
