Bukit
Bintang where to go in Kuala Lumpur and what
to do in KL.
Bukit Bintang is the real center of Kuala Lumpur. The city
administration would like to tell that KLCC
around the Petronas Towers is the center but
according to the amount of people, action,
facilities, shopping, food etc. it's Bukit
Bintang. This is the same during the day and
especially during the night. |
|
|
This
part of KL is on the hill behind the
old center of KL which was
Chinatown, Bukit means hill and
Bintang means star, all together
Star Hill, sounds like Hollywood?
Actually it’s more going on at this
part of Kuala Lumpur than in whole
LA where Hollywood is, no yoke.
Compared to places like KL, Bangkok,
Phuket etc. the whole US is a desert
in the night except maybe Las Vegas
and Miami.
Around
are also dozens of hotels in every
price range and some walking street
like areas such as BB Park, which is
a good place in the evening with an
excellent mixture of bars, disco and
restaurants,
Changkat
Bukit Bintang
is the
more lively part with dozens of
restaurants, live music, bars,
disco, nightclubs and shopping,
hotels, restaurants and everything
related during

day and
night. In recent years it also
become the center of gravity of
casual Arab investment in Malaysia.
There is probably no other
place in the country where so many (BMO) black moving objects are visible
( this is a Lebanese expression), |
|
I wonder what they
are hiding from? Malaysians are nice
people respecting others, they won’t
never harass any tourists, so there
is no need to hide,
more.
Without
any doubt, Changkat Bukit Bintang this is the
real heart of the city and this “Golden
Triangle” is dedicated to shopping, in malls such as Sungai
Wang (probably the best shopping
center in Kuala Lumpur) and Lot 10
on the opposite side of the road. If
one don't want to run around to much
and have the Monorail which somehow
connects to everywhere that's the
place. |

Chinese restaurants in KL are
infinite
food
comes in all varieties, its almost
like Hong Kong or Singapore, no
wonder because more than 30% of the
population in Malaysia is Chinese.
Easily be accessed by bus, taxi and
the elevated monorail. The only
problem is the monorail units are to
small and they forgot to install a
ticked machine at the monorail
station, the result is long lines of
people who need
to buy a ticket manually because there are
only one or two ticket counters
with people open.
This is 19 Century with a view
to the 21. Century Petronas towers who tell
everyone how “advanced” the country
is, this ticketing is not advanced, this is a
mess. |
This location is the KL “golden
triangle”.
Starting from Jalan Pudu
(where one of the worst prisons in
Asia was since British colonial
times, its closed now but by using
the monorail all buildings are still
seen from an elevated viewpoint and
that looks real
grim). The road intersects with
Jalan Sultan Ismail
and forms somehow a triangle. Around
are plenty of hotels and restaurants
plus cheap hawker stalls. Some of
the main shopping malls are located
here, this are Berjaya Times Square, Imbi Plaza,
Sungei Wang, Lot 10 and Pavilion KL.

Bukit Bintang

Kuala Lumpur#s top shopping and soft
nightlife quarter located with most up

shopping mall with an area of around 1.3
million square feet. The mall has six parts
with a wide spectrum of items to shop such
as designer wear, great furniture and pieces
of art pieces. Various restaurants with
international and local food plus spas and
beauty shops. There are karaoke bars,
bistros, cinemas and other entertainment
venues.
KL
Pictures
since the latest
fashion of the major search engine is to
penalize webpages with pictures, they try to
make a roll back to the time after WW2, we
had to take out the pics within the content
and put them separately, have a look
here.

Sungei Wang Plaza
This
very popular shopping mall has
around 500 retail outlets plus
another 100 or so movable stalls at
the open space around the center and
elsewhere. There is a large
selection of goods, actually if you
can imagine it you will find it and
its for all budgets, one of the best
is the Teppanyaki restaurant at
third floor, excellent food for mini prices. When comparing to
Japanese food prices elsewhere such
as Singapore, Hong Kong etc. its a
real bargain, there is also
interesting KL Nightlife around. There
are photo shops and other with the
newest gadgets, electronic fashion
wear and accessories, bags and
luggage, shoes, mobiles and
boutiques.
Imbi Plaza just across a side road
computer hard and software is available. |
